Last year students in Key Stage 4 were given the opportunity to sit Functional Skills English exams and Entry Level Mathematics qualifications. These courses of study are tailored to students with additional needs. Assessment is made up of coursework, controlled assessments and exams which can be difficult at times for students with additional needs such as anxiety or attention difficulties. These qualifications are equivalent to low GCSE grades.
Out of the cohort 5 students gained Functional Skills English qualifications at level 1 or 2. The controlled assessments were quite tough with students demonstrating their debating skills and having to sit a formal exam. 4 students also gained Entry Level Maths qualifications. We are all immensely proud of their achievements and they have demonstrated that anything is possible.
At Highfield Littleport we aim for every student to leave our school with formal recognition of achievements. These students have done better than that and achieved formal qualifications. Well done everyone!
